You probably already know how valuable having a presence at trade shows and conventions can be for your business; it gets your brand, products, and services on the radar of your target audience. But, the key to getting noticed lies in the design of your convention, or trade show, banner.

Why You Need to Care About the Design of Your Banner

The whole point of going to a trade show is to showcase your products and services to potential buyers, but that means that you have to stand out. You’re not the only person exhibiting—in fact, there will probably be hundreds of exhibitors just at one trade show, many of them who may be your direct competitors.

It’s not an exaggeration to say that your trade show banner design will determine the success or failure of your entire experience.

So….what’s involved in creating an effective, well-designed convention banner?

What Should Be On Your Trade Show Banner?

A well-crafted trade show banner design will be highly visible from a distance and include elements that will entice your audience. These elements include:

  • Company Logo: You want to make the logo big enough to be easily seen, but not so large that you overwhelm the other elements of your convention banner. It’s also important that it’s displayed at the right height above the ground. Ideally, it should be placed at the average person’s eye level.
  • Concise Messaging: Next, you have to clearly and concisely communicate what your business does. You can do that with a short tagline and/or images. With some imagination and creativity, you can convey a lot with very little.
  • Contact Information: Then you need to include your contact info. Just your website address and phone number will be enough. The contact info doesn’t have to be large enough to read from a distance; if people are interested enough to want it, they will already have come closer to your booth.
  • Colors & Fonts:  You should use colors and fonts that are consistent with your company’s established branding. Other signage in your booth can utilize bright colors and attractive imagery to catch the attention, and even moving elements, but brand recognition should be your first priority.
