If they are hesitant to show you their portfolio, or if they simply don’t have one, that’s probably an indication that you should seek design services elsewhere. There’s nothing necessarily wrong with working with a new company, but even a startup should have some examples to show you. 

Ask About Storage Options

One of your biggest considerations with your trade show displays is where you’re going to keep them when you’re not using them. You’ll need to store them between shows and during the off-season. Ask your prospective trade show display company if they offer storage services as well as handling and shipping assistance. 

If they do offer storage services, ask them for details about their warehouse, including safety and security protocols, climate control, the location of the warehouse, and if you would be able to access that warehouse at any time. The logistics of managing trade show exhibits, keeping them safe, and getting them to where they need to go, are the most difficult and time-consuming aspects of attending trade shows. A company that can do all of this for you, and do them well, is worth considering. 

Communicate Budget Concerns From the Beginning

Lastly, trade show exhibit companies vary widely in the rates and fees they charge and the services they provide. 

Of course, finding the most affordable costs is part of the process, but make sure your budget limitations are communicated early on in the consultation, and find out how far they are willing to work with you to stay within them. A good company should be able to show you where you can save money on features and design elements and still have a setup that will fulfill your requirements. If they aren’t willing to provide you with ideas and suggestions that allow you to have the exhibit you need for the amount of money you can spend, then you may want to start searching for a new company.
